I recognise the importance of confidentiality and privacy in the counselling relationship, especially when working with teenagers. According to the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Ethical Framework, we are committed to ensuring that all information shared by clients during counselling sessions is kept strictly confidential. This means that any details disclosed during sessions will not be shared with third parties without the explicit consent of the client, except in circumstances where there is a risk of harm to oneself or another. To uphold this commitment, all counselling sessions are conducted in private online settings, and any client records are securely stored with restricted access. 

 Obtaining informed consent is a critical aspect of the practice. I ensure that all clients, and in the case of minors, their parents or guardians, are fully informed about the counselling process, the nature of the therapeutic relationship, and the limits of confidentiality before commencing any sessions. This includes explaining the circumstances under which confidentiality may need to be breached, such as when there is a risk of harm to the client or others. I respect the autonomy of our teenage clients by involving them in decisions about their counselling goals and methods, ensuring they feel empowered and respected throughout the therapeutic journey. 

My aim is to ensure that all our interactions with teenage clients are conducted with honesty, fairness, and transparency. When working with teenagers, I am consistently mindful of the power dynamics in the therapeutic relationship, and I am committed to maintaining appropriate professional boundaries. These boundaries are in place to aid in fostering a trusting and supportive environment that facilitates the personal growth and well-being of the teenage clients. 

 I strive to ensure that our services are accessible to all teenagers, regardless of their background, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or socioeconomic status. I want to create a welcoming environment where every client feels valued and understood.
